Mysteryville
Something very strange is going on in the town of Mysteryville and, as the ace reporter for Countryside Life Magazine, it's up to you to find the truth. It seems the town cats are disappearing under suspicious circumstances. Visit the Mysteryville shops, question the residents and examine every detail in your search for the answers behind this feline mystery. Featuring hours of seek-and-find fun, bizarre characters and incredible graphics, Mysteryville is a surprising adventure for your senses!
I've played this under it's other name -> Strange Town and loved it.
It's similar to Mystery Case Files, but with a quirky storyline.
You play a reporter, trying to find out why all the cats have suddenly gone missing in this strange town.
In order to speak with various people, they ask you to help find certain items for them, as with Mystery Case Files, there is a list of items you must find, shapes you must match against objects in the room etc.. as you question each towns-person.
There are about 20 stages, and the story gets odder and odder, involving an FBI Agent, a mysterious dark suited man, a crazy Scientist, and more eccentric characters than you can poke a stick at!
It's a LOT of fun, I recommend this game highly.
A couple of spelling errors here and there, but the game is fun, so they can be forgiven that ;)
The only other semi-negative thing I would say about this game, is that the objects you're asked to find, are always the same, they don't change, but it's still fun re-playing the game, even though the second time around, you'll know where everything is.
It's definately NOT Mystery Case Files, so don't expect it to be, this game is a stand-alone, and a good one, if you go in hoping it's going to be another Ravenhearst, you won't enjoy it, and it won't get the credit it deserves, it shouldn't be constantly compared to MCF.
In a review, it's great to compare games to others of the kind, but if you start your review with the knowledge that this game is similar to MCF, and go into it with the attitude, or thought, of "This game isn't going to be anywhere near as good as MCF", then it really isn't fair to this game.
No - It isn't MCF, and it wasn't meant to be MCF :)
Anyhow - it's a very pleasing diversion.

MCF Ravenhearst
Rumors surrounding the history of stately Ravenhearst Manor have circulated for decades. The recently acquired diary of Emma Ravenhearst may hold the key to unraveling the tale behind this unsettling place, yet the pages are missing. Players assume the role of Master Detective to unlock secrets held within Ravenhearst, scouring 32 rooms in the manor for cleverly hidden clues. Locating and assembling diary pages helps tell the story of the house and, ultimately, unlock the mystery.
- Changing levels enhance replay value.
- Thousands of unique items to find
- Dozens of puzzles to solve
- Need help unlocking a puzzle door?
The graphics, as usual, in the series, are superb, above and beyond par, as a lot of them have small animations in them this time around, a really nice touch, giving it a spooky ambiance.
The ghostly sound effects are out of this world, and can be a little chilling if you're playing it alone at night ;)
Puzzles, well there are a LOT, these new types are well thought out, challenging, yet do-able, and most of all, BRILLIANT, kudos to the creators for coming up with them.
If you are stuck, you are given the chance to skip the puzzle, though the creators have added an extra hint in this one, so now you have five.
I would describe MCF Ravenhearst as having an "Eerie Elegance" about itself, and I think you'll understand what I mean when you play it.. as you are filling up the pages of a missing diary, uncovering a mystery/love story gone wrong, on your hunt to find out what really happened to Emma Ravenhearst.
This is a game with true atmosphere.
One feature you might like, is you are given the opportunity to play in a relaxed mode, giving you ample time to complete the quest.
Great story, great graphics, great EVERYTHING.
I would give this 10 stars if it were possible.
The best $20 I've spent in a LONG time...
I just wonder how the creators will out-do themselves in the 4th installment, as this one is hard to beat.
